A note from yusahana6323

I really shouldn't be taking time to say this, and it shouldn't have to be said, but I feel like this entry needs to be written.

This is my own view, and while I say I'm speaking for the other members of the Trinity, they have nothing to do with this post. If I offend you, you are free to attack me, but if you bother Wolfy or Vinny over it there will be consequences. You're free to say what you wish about me too. Since I'm the only member of the Trinity in operating condition right now, I'm going to say what I feel is best for the group.

I know how frustrating it is to be waiting for an episode of your favourite show to be subbed, and it doesn't happen. I know how it is. All of the Trinity does. That's why we started this group in the first place. And I know that you want to complain, and you want to know why the new episode isn't out, and you want to bother them.

But that's not the way it works. Just like you, people in sub groups have lives. They might be busier, or they might not be. But you need to respect these people. They are taking their own time to do something for you.

I don't think you guys have any idea of what I give up to translate this show. And I do it for three reasons: one, because I love the Japanese language, and I love translating it. Two, because I love Monochrome Factor. Three, because I want everyone to be able to enjoy what I enjoy.

So I am giving something to you. Wolfy and Vinny feel the same way. We enjoy subbing this show. We love giving you a translated (whatever quality the translation is) episode, so you can watch and understand and enjoy. But it seems like some people don't think we have other things to do with our lives. We try to get the episodes out as quickly as we can. Sometimes, things are out of our control, like what has been happening with episode 15. Sometimes things are perfectly within our control, but we just don't have the time to be doing this.

And sometimes, things are within our control, but we have no time, and for some reason we still push forward with it anyway.

Can I just give you guys an idea of what I do to translate this show?

I've skipped work in order to translate several episodes. This cuts down on money I desperately need to keep myself alive. I am living on cold cereal and canned soup, and while this might be normal of other college students, there is also the fact I go out of my way to buy Monochrome Factor DVDs so everyone can have at least a taste extra. That gives me even less money and thus, less money for things such as food, clothes, and school supplies.

I was so eager to finish translating episode 16 that I didn't go to several Finnish classes and didn't study, and consequently failed the test that followed. I have my oral today and I know I'm going to fail that too, because I spent the Thanksgiving weekend getting things in order to translate character songs, dramas, and DVD extras that I can hand out in place of episodes until we can get things there back under control.

And then last night, I stayed up late so I could start translating episode 17. I was up until one in the morning, ignoring the fact that I had to wake up at five in order to get ready for class, and ignoring the fact that I hadn't slept the night before either. I bailed out on my philosophy paper, writing less than four pages when it should be nine, and skipped over my history paper which is due on Wednesday and still needs another three pages written, so that 17 can get out as quickly as possible when we are able to get that rolling. Why? Because I want you guys to have these episodes.

So how do you think I felt when I woke up this morning after just a few hours of sleep, and checked in on the site and found another "It's been weeks, where's episode 15!?!" comment after we've said several times to please, please not bother us about it?

I guess it's a rhetorical question, and I'm more than sure that most of the people that are doing things like this don't read the actual blog we have set up here for everyone to see our progress and other things like that. But it's so upsetting. I sacrifice a lot to translate this, and the rest of the Trinity sacrifices to work on this also. I know that Wolfy has spent a day subbing and then had to do her homework under the covers with a flashlight so that her parents wouldn't catch her and ban her from subbing. Vinny is so busy that it's a miracle she even finds time to check scripts.

The gratitude everyone expresses to us when we release a new episode is something that makes us smile. We are very happy being able to give you something you want. But the ungracious comments that follow when we don't release as often as some might like almost completely erases the warm feelings we get from helping you out.

We don't have to do this. We are taking time out of our own lives to give you something you want, free of charge. We put a lot of effort into it, forgetting things that should come first so that you can watch a single episode. Somehow, we make time even when there should be no time to do it, or there is, in fact, no time to do it.

If we give up this much to give something to you, can't you at least be polite and wait quietly for us to finish?

I'm grateful to those of you that have been saying this same thing to people that are whining. You have no idea how much we appreciate you understanding and sticking up for us. If you have read this blog, and you see people complaining, please direct them here, and/or tell them that if they continue they run the risk of having us delay the episodes further or the group shut down completely.

Your support is always appreciated, and please rest assured we are doing our utmost best to get these episodes out. We don't like hoarding them, unlike some people seem to believe.

O_O I had no idea you had to give up so much for this.

Please, you're paying for your schooling, and it should come first. Really.

I never usually reply to the posts, but I really think that this needs to be said.

Thank you for your hard work.

I don't care how long it takes to get the episodes subbed - I can wait. In the meantime, I can enjoy the manga.

Everytime you update (RSS) I get a little excited, because I'm hoping for the newest episode, but regardless of what the update is about, you deliver, be it an episode or pictures of boxed sets.

I feel terrible that you have to skip work and class to get the done.

Know that there's someone out there who not only appreciates your hardwork, but acknowledges your sacrifice.

To be fair, it's most likely the minority that don't understand. While the majority do. Don't let the comments of the few get you down, where there are probably plenty of silent people who are very happy with what you do for them and don't mind waiting.

So just ignore the fools who whine, there are always going to be some who do. :P

I'm one who is very glad that you've come and started subbing monochrome factor. After the last group I was following stopped releasing episodes I was happy to find someone else who was.

But don't let subbing stop you from doing all the other things you need to do. Missing lessons and failing tests is far worse than not getting an episode out on time. I'll still be here waiting when you do manage to release the next episode :)

I only found you yesterday. Me and my friend watched 13 and 14 tonight and obviously we are hungry for more, but we can be patient. We've already waited months after all!

We also know better than to pester subbers for MOAR EPS NAO, because that's the quickest way to annoy them.

Subbers have lives too. And your schooling should definitely come first!

We'll watch ep 15 whenever you can get it out, but even if it never comes then we've still seen two more episodes than we would have done otherwise, and for that we are grateful.

Don't let those few with entitlement issues get you down!!!

(sorry if I'm coming across a little incoherent. It's past midnight and well past time when I should be in bed. ^_^')

I would like to tell you to STOP TRANSLATING for a while. Your school work is far more important, and you'll have time to do more translating later. PLEASE focus on your school work. If the translations can't be put as subs yet, then there's no need to translate much more til that problem's solved. Or at least until your work is done.

Monochrome Factor can wait. Seriously.

I AGREE WITH MY FELLOW COMMENTORS

HONESTLY YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!

WE KNOW YOU ARE ALL DOING YOUR BEST AND APPRIECIATE WHAT EFFORT YOU ARE PUTTING IN TO IT
BUT PLEASE DON'T SKIP SCHOOL AND WORK FOR US!!!! THEY ARE IMPORTANT

ALL THE BEST

While i am a horribly impatient person i agree with everyone else! your school and jobs (or even just hanging out) should come first!! seriously i have no idea how you guys manage!! if it were me i would be having 6 meltdowns a month and screaming at every person who annoyed me (even for something small like taking the pencil i was using for my homework) anyway i LOVE you guys! and im very thankful that you guys sub this and put up with all of us!

Anonymous said...

okay, first off, we don't NEED the extras or songs or silly little side things like that. Those can wait if you get the spare time or feel like it.

From the sound of it, it sounds like you are having major trouble managing your time. Priorities come first such as school. Extra time can be given to if you feel up to subbing the episodes. And when I say that, I mean episodes, please don't waste your time on the extra stuff...not if it's coming to failing classes.

If people are gonna complain, ignore em, if they are in such a hurry to watch it, they can learn the language themselves and do it on their own. So just ignore it.

Maybe take a break? Get back to focusing on school for a bit? Managing time is very important in college so try to keep organized and make sure to ALWAYS put school first, regardless of what anyone says or bitches about, etc.

Anyways, thanks a bunch and good luck with whatever you plan to do from here on out.

I've never posted a comment here/said anything at all, but I really would like to say how much it means to me that you go out of your way to bring Monochrome to us good for nothing fans. I feel bad for not saying anything before, because I watch your episodes, and give nothing back... not even a comment.
I understand 100% how hard it is for anyone who fansubs anime. When I used to be active as a Shoku-dan staff member we were harassed like you wouldn't believe. This was because we decided to pick up Vampire Knight. ... along with our page views jumping to unbelievable heights, came very VERY VERY nasty fans. We used to be a humble little Loveless manga group, and now we were being treated like crap even though the poor site owner worked her ass off, and even became ill because she was staying up at such odd hours of the night. And all I'd see on sites like CrunchyRoll were comments such as "WHERE IS THE NEXT EPISODE YOU LAZY PEOPLE!111" it was disgusting.

But along with all of this came HUGE numbers of happy, and grateful fans, which made everything very much worth it. [:

*Please* put your education and work first, there is nothing more important, and certainly not fanusbs, and as we wait for the next episode there are many other good shows to keep us distracted.

TE OLETTE PARHAITA! ['You are the best' in finnish. I wasn't sure if you could translate that so I did, just in case. xD]

You guys are doing a really good job at subbing and I really had no idea you were sacrificing so much of your time for this. That makes me adore you even more. 8D

But still I don't think that you should fail your tests and skip work for this. Think about yourself first!

Anyways, as I already said: You guys are the best!! Keep up the good work! 8D

We aren't saying this to be mean and spiteful. Yusa-chan spoke for all of us when she said what she did. We have things to do. Please understand and obey her words.
Thanks,

You give so much to sub episodes and I thank you endlessly! People who get crabby because they cant wait are just jerks. I just found out you guys were subbing Monochrome after Aniex's "death" and you have no idea how much of a high I got from just that knowledge. Time is no object.
Thank you for everything!!!

Since I host your previously done stuff on my own website, I keep getting the same questions too...where are they

Now I know the answer, and rest assured, I will direct them here

Well said! Thank you so much for the effort of subbing this anime and fans like me really appreciates it!

I don't think leeches should complain when they get something for free without contributing anything at all. You fans who only knows how to pester fansubbers to release new episodes and complained about quality should donate some money for the effort and also time invested. I dare you to subsidize fansubber's daily expenditures!

To you hardworking people at MonoRyuukou-Subs, keep up the good work and take your time. Like what some has said, do prioritize your studies too! :)

God, I don't know what to say. Part of me is horrified (and immensely grateful) of the sacrifices you guys have made to bring us this wonderful show, so I want to tell you to stop and focus on your life. Another part however yearns for your good work, for the show to continue, and for me to be able to watch it soon. What can I say, I guess I am a selfish brat.

But like the others said, we will be patient. It's more than obvious that fansubber have lives outside subbing. I wished I could meet those guys who complain and see that they exist with my own eyes because I can't believe anyone could be THAT selfish. Rest assured, the majority appreciates your work and even though we eagerly await the results of it we know how to be patient and give you the time you need. There's nothing but immeasurable thanks in my heart.

Anonymous said...

honestly thx you so much for subbing,
I can wait as long as it takes!!!! I understand you need to have a life too.
Ignore those few individuals who are impatient.
Your life should always come before subs

Anonymous said...

First off I would like to say thank you so much for all that you guys for all the time and effort that you put into Monochrome Factor.

But please DON'T skip out on school, homework, and work for this. These things are more important then this. And I don't want to see any part of your lives suffer to translate Monochrome Factor.

I love the show just as much as everyone else but your real lives come first. Thank you for all that you are doing and take as much time as you need to take care of your own life first.

As far as those that whine and complain SHAME ON THEM. If that are so concerned about when the next episode comes out then they can do it themselves, offer to help, or find another anime to watch to hold them over.

Ignore those who are ignorant, stay healthy, and take care of your own life first. And please don't make any sacrifices that could set you back in your own personal goals in the end.

Thank you all so much for all the hard work that you are doing for us.

I'm just grateful and thankful that you guys are taking the time to sub the series.

Honestly, if the subbing of the series is cutting into personal obligations as well it may be best if you take a break for a while and catch up on school work and work.

Real life always comes first, regardless.

If it helps to get people to leave you alone a bit on the aarinfantasy site someone brought a copy that has subs and uploaded episode 15. The subs are only so so but gives people something pretty to distract themselves with for a while.

Side note thank you so much for subbing this show. You guys put in a great effort and I know at least some people are grateful for this.

Unknown said...

Don't worry about those people, there are still a large majority of people who acknowledge the fact that you three have lives, are putting much of it on hold for this project and us, and are thankful for that. We're grateful that you guys're doing this for us and will continue to try either getting the impatient people to just wait a bit more or, at the very least, direct them to this blog. Much love and, though it's a bit early, Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Happy Kawanzaa/any other December celebration I'm forgetting.

Unknown said...

Omg... I don't know what to say xD You guys are awesome xD But I think you should pay more attention to your life, than subbing... ;p I love your subbs, and I can't wait for next episode, but I think really you should just make wait us longer, and than you could sleep more... If not.. after some time you can collapse or something O__o and than there won't be any episode ;p ... So... I love you all, and appreciate yours determination, thanks for everything ;3

Those people who complain are nothing but spoiled children, used to getting everything for free whenever they shout loud enough. In the short time I went on CR (what was I thinking?) the comments page for every single show was well over 50% moaning about the next episode not being there when it usually hadn't even been shown in Japan yet! Not to mention the comments written as if the subbers of the series would ever visit there. I'm only 28, but very few kids/teens (and I'm betting almost all of them are that age) ten years ago would have thrown a strop like they do these days over something they have to do almost nothing to obtain. It's just so damn ungrateful - people who make comments like that honestly think the world owes them, and those complaining on this site are no different. If you want to watch it so much, learn Japanese and bl00dy well translate it yourself...

Sorry for the rant, I've said this dozens of times when I did visit *that* site and was ignored constantly. You guys let us see something that we'd never see otherwise, at least for the next year or so. All the adult visitors (and I mean mentally) really appreciate the hard work you put in, and I'd much rather wait for a good quality sub.

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry for the..suffering some of the people make you go through. I for one am willing to wait, and it looks like many others are willing to wait too. Don't rush it, we all really appreciate what you do for us ^_^.

Anonymous said...

Don't let the morons who whine and complain get to you. As some have said already...there are many people who appreciate the time and effort that you guys put into releasing these episodes. I'm not a patient person, but for anime...I can wait. I'm not going to die if a new episode doesn't get put up lightning fast and for those who constantly give you negative and pestering comments...they obviously can't seem to get it through their heads that you do have lives and other stuff to do.

If your sacrificing your schooling to do this...though I can only speak for myself (and I really appreciate your releases) take as long as you need. Focus on your work and school. If you have free time than work on the subs. Your schooling and definately your well being is more important than an anime series.

A thousand thanks for working as hard as you do. I truly hope to see more episodes in the future, but don't push yourselves too hard.

Anonymous said...

I totally appreciate what your group is doing to get the subs out to fans a.s.a.p., but seriously, let's get down to it.

まず, take care of yourselves more. The blog that you have just posted, it makes some people want to pity the group. For example, when you stated, "I'm skipping work...failing this test...". Don't degrade yourselves to that state. Your personal lives come first.
分ったよ. Although I don't sub and I'm not in college or in the workforce, I really do understand what it's like not being able to do things when you really want to.

take care of yourselves more and we'll all wait patiently for your group's subs to come out. ^^

お元気で~。

You get mega brownie points for the effort you're putting into this project and I certainly appreciate it. But the facts are, there will be those people.

I would like to say, don't ruin your situation at school to please people who won't even truely appreciate it. I know how difficult it is to have so much work to do and instead use that time on something that people want.

But again, thank you for your efforts. Those who truely appreciate you, will wait happily. The rest should just be ignored, because they don't care to understand that you're not just machined.

Anonymous said...

First of all - thank you so much for the episodes you have subbed so far. We appreciate all of the hard work you've put into subbing this for us, and of course we want to see more. But your personal lives and education are far more important and I would feel terrible if you failed an exam or missed class just so that I could watch anime. We can wait until you guys have free time, or until official English releases come out, whichever comes first. Thank you again for everything, and please don't feel obligated to do this. For those who are complaining, remember there are plenty of other good shows to enjoy in the meantime.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe people are still bugging you about episode 15!! You told us to wait and most of us have. Those people are so annoying. Pay no mind to them and know that most of us out here are behind you 100% and acknowledge how much you sacrifice to give us this wonderful anime (for free!!). I know I really really love you all for doing this. So don't worry about what the complainers say and just take your time and make sure you get your school work done so you don't fail anymore tests. :)

I'm going to be here waiting for the next some when you feel it's time to release no matter when it is. :) I'm fully dedicated to you all and am really happy you all startted subbing but don't do it at the expense of your daily lives. Keep up the good work and good luck with school and everything!
