Monochrome Factor, Vol, 8 [DVD Box Set]

Sooo guys! Guess what I'm giving you that you've all probably found elsewhere already!

I did get the box set soon after it was released in March but due to scramblings to get things ready for my trip and with finals approaching, it's kind of been sitting on my shelf all sad and abandoned and gathering dust... like everything else in my life. XD But I bring it out now for your enjoyment!

I now have a few days all to myself before I leave to do whatever I want. I'm going to attempt to finish up song translations and putting a dent in the mini-drama translations during this time. (Again, most of you can probably find these elsewhere at this point, but I'm still going to do them) Mini-dramas take a lot more time, but we'll see what I can do.

Not much to say after that, other than the second mini-drama is basically translated. I just have a few larger parts to go over (mainly Kengo's long speaking parts, his "dialect" is throwing me off) but that should be posted up soon.

Group Announcement

So in case anyone (which at this point is probably all of you) is wondering what's going on with the group, here's the big news:


We aren't doing subbing anymore.

Among all the technical difficulties we've had with episode 15 up, we just don't see the point anymore - up through at least episode 20 has already been released from other groups, and there's no way we'll catch up. Sorry that the road had to end here, and we're grateful for all the support we've received from everyone from the short stint we did have. We really enjoyed doing the subs for you.


But.


Some of you might have noticed the most recent poll and have wondered the meaning of it.

We are pleased to announce that we are in the works for doing Monochrome Factor manga scanslation in collaboration with another scan group that is now completing their work with volume 5. Wolfy and I are the members of the original Trinity on the project with this group, and we are being joined by Elocinaqui. The other groups' members are Kazimierzi, lightningsha, and soothsayer from LiveJournal.

We hope you understand, and that you're willing to give this new venture a try. We will post the chapters here for download as soon as they are posted, so check back if you're interested.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Before I want to get down to business, I want to alert everyone. I'm sure anyone that's seen the chatbox in the past week or so has seen one of the posts talking about how you can find a few Monochrome Factor episodes at some site or another. I hate to be called paranoid but I would honestly advise against clicking on that link. Over on deviantArt there's been viruses going around because of posts like that - tricking you into thinking there's something beyond the link, but there is actually a malicious virus waiting right there for you.

I haven't clicked on the link to see whether or not I'm crying wolf, but my thoughts are: everyone here knows where to find episodes of Monochrome Factor, I'm sure, from valid sites. If you don't, message us and we'll see if we can help you. But I just don't want anything happening to any of our visitors. Please, if you have clicked on the link and gotten a virus, let us know so we can take action against it.

Kengo: Aya sure is persistent! Day after day, she comes around bothering us. I wish she would just give up.

Akira: Mm. She is the authority.

Kengo: You said it!

Someone: It's over!

Kengo: Huh? What's that?

Episode 1 - Shadow of Dusk
(TL Note: "Shirogane" means "silver" or "platinum"; literally read, it is "White Gold")

Someone: Congratulations! Second place is a Cyclone Vacuum!

Kengo: Wow! It's my first time seeing something like this!

Akira: Eh.

Kengo: It sure looks cool. First place is a flat-screen liquid crystal television, third place is a portable Gamekey...

Akira: Gamekey?

Kengo: Ah, speaking of that, I think I got a note from neechan. How embarrassing. Where was it...

Akira: Is this it?

Kengo: Ah!

Akira: I swiped it from you.

Kengo: Uh... no, I... that's...

Akira: How brave. Such a thing would usually make a man upset, right?

Kengo: Y-yes...

Someone: Here you go, one round!

Akira: Anyway, I just need to aim for third place...

Someone: It's done! He did it! And the prize, a meal at a top-class French restaurant!

Kengo: Amazing! Akira, you're amazing!

...........

Kengo: Hey, it's a special invitation!

Akira. Eh.

Kengo: Um, "After making your way up the mountain, please stay for awhile in the white retreat, which was an embassy of the homeland in the Meiji Era, before continuing on to the restaurant..."

Akira: Tch.

Kengo: "Since it shines so beautifully in the moonlight, it has been named Shirogane Tower..."

Akira: Shirogane Tower?

Kengo: "... and has been transformed into a restaurant, as it is now, that is now highly thought of."

Akira: -sigh-

Kengo: "We are devoted to your satisfaction. For helping make us a success, we thank you for coming, and hope you enjoy your visit", it says.

Akira: -sigh-

Kengo: But, that was really cool, Akira! ...... What is this 'page' they're giving us?

Akira: -snort-

Kengo: Hey, come on, Akira!

Akira: Ah, shut up! Unless you're talking about the game, that is!

Kengo: What are we going to do about this?

Akira: About what?

Kengo: What you got from the lottery!

Akira: Wouldn't you like to go with your sister?

Kengo: But this is for you, Akira...

Akira: I'm not really interested.

Kengo: But, even so....

Akira: What now? If you want to go, just go.

Kengo: But we have to go at seven for it, right? That's the only requirement.

Akira: Oh.

Kengo: Oh, and they have a dress code, too! Amazing.

Akira: Then just go with your family.

Kengo: Um... but you see...

Akira: Hm?

Kengo: On this date, my parents are going to be on a luxury trip overseas.

Akira: Oh.

Kengo: So, I can't go with my family. You should come.

Akira: What?

Kengo: Since my family won't be around, won't you come with me to the restaurant?

Akira: I'll pass. French isn't really my thing.

Kengo: What? Then, what should I do?

Akira: How about Aya?

Kengo: Aya? Surely you don't mean that unreasonable prefect! I don't think French is her thing.

Akira: I see.

Kengo: Hmmm.... I got it!

Akira: Oh?

Kengo: We'll go!

Akira: With who?

Kengo: Akira, me, Kou-nii, and Shirogane-san!

Akira: Are you stupid?

Kengo: Eh?

Akira: Shirogane doesn't count. He's not human.

Kengo: O-oh... that's right... I'm sorry...

Akira: Guess you won't budge.

Kengo: Huh?

Akira: How about Master? I bet we can get him to come.

Kengo: Akira...

Akira: You call Kou-nii. I'll go see if Master will come.

Kengo: Akira! Thank you!!

Akira: Dorya!

Kengo: Guh...

Akira: Take this!

Kengo: OW!

Akira: Yes... at that time, we couldn't imagine it. The lesson we were about to learn from this free trip was only the beginning of the story. It was something that had to be seen to be believed...

Monochrome Factor, Vol. 6 [DVD Box Set]

It's finally come!

Just a quick word before I actually post the scans. The other days I was browsing through AnimePaper when I found that someone has been reposting the scans from here on there. If you are going to do that, please give me or the group credit. I certainly don't have to share with anyone but I want to because we're all MF fans and so we should all be able to see such beautiful art. If you did it (and I've a pretty good idea of who you are, praise to usernames), and it was just a slip on your part, I'm forgiving you, but just asking that you mention where you got the scans from in the future. I spend a lot of money on these DVDs and give (or will be giving, as the DVD extra chats I will translate shortly) freely of them so that everyone doesn't have to.

In other group news:
- We've fallen pretty far behind Ainex, and with the rate things are going I don't think we'll be catching up. We still want to finish, but we understand a lot have fled us. That's fine. You can keep checking back for other translations, DVD extras, etc. and only watch our episodes if you really want to.

-First drama is almost done. (I said that awhile back and then a midterm popped up on me. -__-) It should only take a couple of hours to finish with the several different processes, so I will post that tomorrow sometime, definitely.

- Kengo's "World of Tomorrow" and Master's "Monochrome" lyrics have been provided to me, and those will be translated soon. Kou's "Dive" is on its way to me as we speak. Expect those all to be posted sometime this month.

-Monochrome Broadcast (モノクローム・放送部), one of the extra chat sessions from the first limited edition DVD set, is in pre-translation stages right now. This is going to be scary to translate because the actors are crazy, but it's a lot of fun and I'm sure everyone wants to hear more about the actors and what they think of the show. Hopefully I can have the first one up in the next few weeks, before term finals set in.

More technical difficulties have set in but we are trying to get 15 out as quickly as possible. However Ainex has risen again and you are certainly free to go nab what they've got out. We want you to get those episodes ASAP and if we're not that group, then you've no obligation to wait around for us.


Another little note that might interest some: it looks like FUNimation has acquired rights to Nabari no Ou. To the informed, you'll remember that Nabari no Ou and Monochrome Factor were in the same lot awhile back when FUNimation was pulling fansubs off the net. Perhaps our beloved Akira and Shirogane will end up on their way to be dubbed over soon. We'll be sure to keep you updated.
