Merry Christmas from MonoRyuukou-Subs

I suggest that everyone click here or here and start getting the big present, and then if they're interested, come back for box set 5 images.

I did want to get this temp-sub video out yesterday but several rather pressing physical obstacles came up (one involving a once-full-but-now-near-empty jug of orange juice and then the advent of Santa Claus). I am alive and I did finish the video, although neglecting the ED lyrics which I don't think anyone will miss. Wolfy is working on the polished version, and that should be out in the next couple of days, but this temp-sub should be enough to at least satisfy those wishing to know what goes on in this episode.

And so if you happen to be downloading my very sad version of a subbed episode (working with this in Windows Movie Maker made me appreciate Wolfy so much more. SO MUCH MORE.), I hope you will enjoy it and check back in a few days to get the actual version, complete with TLNotes and other such fun things. You will notice in mine that the text is a bit hard to read, some lines aren't there, timing is off etc., but like I said - you get most of it, and you can get the real version later. :D

Now, for images.

Slipcover. Nice pose.

DVD front cover. This has got to be one of my absolute favourites. :3

And with that, a merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. :)

Thank You + Quick Update 12.12.08 + 11/14 Reup

To all of you that replied in the last post: thank you very much. All the support and pushing to do my work actually got it done. I just need someone to tell me to do it. XD

I guess my biggest issue is that if I honestly could have things my way, I would just translate all day. Translating is my anti-drug. It's what I enjoy more than anything, and the career path I've chosen. So when there's pressure on to get the next episode out and I'm struggling between doing work and translating, the pressure pushes me to translate. Writing it off as an excuse that I'm "practicing my Japanese" is not what I should be doing. It is good practice, but I do need to stay focused on my actual schoolwork. This is something I've learned quickly this first semester at uni.

But especially since I'm going to be in Japan for a few months this upcoming year. :D

The update is: we're planning to have episode 15 out by Christmas. This is tentative, so we will not take attacks over "false promises" kindly, but we really do want to get it out. Wolfy's trying to make arrangements to get somewhere to sub. So, please hang around! If it comes down to it, I'll do the subbing myself with Windows Movie Maker just to have a Christmas present out (after finals are done this Wednesday! Yay!). Won't be the best, obviously, but it'll be something.

Thanks again for your support, and we hope to see you soon with episode 15 - Shadow of Healing!

EDIT: I'm re-up'ing episode 11 and 14. 11 should be up - go check the completed projects page. 14 should be up in about two hours. We apologize for this.

A note from yusahana6323

I really shouldn't be taking time to say this, and it shouldn't have to be said, but I feel like this entry needs to be written.

This is my own view, and while I say I'm speaking for the other members of the Trinity, they have nothing to do with this post. If I offend you, you are free to attack me, but if you bother Wolfy or Vinny over it there will be consequences. You're free to say what you wish about me too. Since I'm the only member of the Trinity in operating condition right now, I'm going to say what I feel is best for the group.

I know how frustrating it is to be waiting for an episode of your favourite show to be subbed, and it doesn't happen. I know how it is. All of the Trinity does. That's why we started this group in the first place. And I know that you want to complain, and you want to know why the new episode isn't out, and you want to bother them.

But that's not the way it works. Just like you, people in sub groups have lives. They might be busier, or they might not be. But you need to respect these people. They are taking their own time to do something for you.

I don't think you guys have any idea of what I give up to translate this show. And I do it for three reasons: one, because I love the Japanese language, and I love translating it. Two, because I love Monochrome Factor. Three, because I want everyone to be able to enjoy what I enjoy.

So I am giving something to you. Wolfy and Vinny feel the same way. We enjoy subbing this show. We love giving you a translated (whatever quality the translation is) episode, so you can watch and understand and enjoy. But it seems like some people don't think we have other things to do with our lives. We try to get the episodes out as quickly as we can. Sometimes, things are out of our control, like what has been happening with episode 15. Sometimes things are perfectly within our control, but we just don't have the time to be doing this.

And sometimes, things are within our control, but we have no time, and for some reason we still push forward with it anyway.

Can I just give you guys an idea of what I do to translate this show?

I've skipped work in order to translate several episodes. This cuts down on money I desperately need to keep myself alive. I am living on cold cereal and canned soup, and while this might be normal of other college students, there is also the fact I go out of my way to buy Monochrome Factor DVDs so everyone can have at least a taste extra. That gives me even less money and thus, less money for things such as food, clothes, and school supplies.

I was so eager to finish translating episode 16 that I didn't go to several Finnish classes and didn't study, and consequently failed the test that followed. I have my oral today and I know I'm going to fail that too, because I spent the Thanksgiving weekend getting things in order to translate character songs, dramas, and DVD extras that I can hand out in place of episodes until we can get things there back under control.

And then last night, I stayed up late so I could start translating episode 17. I was up until one in the morning, ignoring the fact that I had to wake up at five in order to get ready for class, and ignoring the fact that I hadn't slept the night before either. I bailed out on my philosophy paper, writing less than four pages when it should be nine, and skipped over my history paper which is due on Wednesday and still needs another three pages written, so that 17 can get out as quickly as possible when we are able to get that rolling. Why? Because I want you guys to have these episodes.

So how do you think I felt when I woke up this morning after just a few hours of sleep, and checked in on the site and found another "It's been weeks, where's episode 15!?!" comment after we've said several times to please, please not bother us about it?

I guess it's a rhetorical question, and I'm more than sure that most of the people that are doing things like this don't read the actual blog we have set up here for everyone to see our progress and other things like that. But it's so upsetting. I sacrifice a lot to translate this, and the rest of the Trinity sacrifices to work on this also. I know that Wolfy has spent a day subbing and then had to do her homework under the covers with a flashlight so that her parents wouldn't catch her and ban her from subbing. Vinny is so busy that it's a miracle she even finds time to check scripts.

The gratitude everyone expresses to us when we release a new episode is something that makes us smile. We are very happy being able to give you something you want. But the ungracious comments that follow when we don't release as often as some might like almost completely erases the warm feelings we get from helping you out.

We don't have to do this. We are taking time out of our own lives to give you something you want, free of charge. We put a lot of effort into it, forgetting things that should come first so that you can watch a single episode. Somehow, we make time even when there should be no time to do it, or there is, in fact, no time to do it.

If we give up this much to give something to you, can't you at least be polite and wait quietly for us to finish?

I'm grateful to those of you that have been saying this same thing to people that are whining. You have no idea how much we appreciate you understanding and sticking up for us. If you have read this blog, and you see people complaining, please direct them here, and/or tell them that if they continue they run the risk of having us delay the episodes further or the group shut down completely.

Your support is always appreciated, and please rest assured we are doing our utmost best to get these episodes out. We don't like hoarding them, unlike some people seem to believe.

Monochrome Factor, Vol. 4 [DVD Box Set]

This will probably be the last post for a little while, since as soon as the day is out I will be writing five or six papers.

We would also like to inform that Wolfy's computer is still out, but she's going to try and find another solution for subbing. But, just in case she can't, we would like everyone to not bother us about episode 15 for the next few weeks. No, we have not given up on the series. No, we are not shutting down, and no, complaining about it WILL NOT get the episode out faster. Just be patient, and we're going to try and keep goodies like seiyuu chat translations and other such things coming up in the meantime.

With that said... BOX 4 SCANS YAAAAYYYYY. 8D

Slipcover. *_*

Front cover. Quite nice, actually.

And there you go! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Monochrome Factor cross road

To all interested:

The PS2 game, Monochrome Factor cross road, is being released in Japan very soon. In the next day or so, I believe.

If you are a PS3 owner with a HDTV, you have reason to rejoice. You can play this wonderful dating-type game.

If you are a PS2 owner, or a PS3 owner with a SDTV... we're out of luck. -crosses fingers for a PS3 Christmas present-

At any rate, the artwork for this game looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm afraid to say it's a shoujo game, which means a new character for us to play to win the affections of the boy of our choosing... no Shirogane/Akira action. (What are these people thinking? Anyone who watches this show for the ShiroAki, raise your hand. -raises hand-) But I think it would be worth it for the art, personally. And we could all stand to see more of our favourite characters... (Hey! Ryuuko's in there! 8D)

I'll point you all to the opening video on YouTube. The wonderful Asriel is once again singing the opening song, and it looks like Ono Daisuke-san, Akira's VA, is singing a new rendition of AWAKE ~Boku no Subete~ for the ending.

Anyone that can find a good place full of screencaps wins! GO GETZ IT!!! -shot-
(Don't look for another week or so though, the game isn't out yet!)

Also I'll remind you that volume 4 of the manga in English shall be released Thursday of next week. Kou makes his entrance, I do believe, as well as some information about the mysterious Ryuuko. That is, if my math is right. So don't get your hopes up too much. ^^;

And that ends yusahana6323's news flash. Here's a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, American or not. :)

DVD extras info

So I just got myself a new account because the old one was cracking down and now I have basically no permissions. ;_;

I'm talking to Vinny and Wolfy right now about episode 15. We've been having kind of a loss of communication, but things have been pretty busy the last couple of weeks. Hopefully with Thanksgiving break coming, we'll be able to have some time to work things out. Wolfy's computer is still down, so that means no subs, but we can certainly work out scripts and issues and such. That way when subs are possible, the finishing-an-episode process will go much quicker.

Having now four DVD box sets, I think I've decided what I'm going to do concerning the group chat extras I get. I believe I will translate the conversations and post them as a blog, with screenshots. It's not what you guys want, but it's what I'm willing to do. So, if you'd rather have subbed video, you can complain all you wish but nothing will be done about it. You'll just have to make do, mmkay? ;)

As a last note, I'm finishing looking at 16.2 tonight and I'll send it on probably by tomorrow. I said I'd have it done earlier but then I got smacked in the face with a couple papers. -_-

Sore ijou.

Monochrome Factor, Vol. 3 [DVD Box Set]

So I guess I don't get my game until Thursday. -sigh-

But that's good for you guys anyway. Here are box 3 scans for you:

Front slipcover.

Front cover. Me like Akira. -shot-

As always I apologize for the un-centeredness, but I think you all know how to deal, right? ;)

Box 4 should be here next week. Look forward to that!

Quick update 13.11.08

Wow, I visit the page and I feel like the group has been dead. O_oU It's so quiet...

Poll #3 closed with Shirogane earning the distinction of being Most Loved and Most Hated Character. (He tied with Lulu for Most Hated). Now there is a new poll, and I am entirely responsible, so feel free to lampoon me if you so desire.

Anyway, now that several large papers are out of the way I have a bit more breathing room. Nevermind the Finnish test on Monday and the fact I have another paper due next week. With more papers the week after that.

But I do have a bit more free time to be translating more for about a week. I just went through the second half of episode 16 and got every line except for five down in one go. I'll go through again tonight after I've done my Japanese work (so I have fresh stuff in my mind) and that should pretty much take care of translating episode 16.

Episode 15.2 is still being checked, for some reason. That should be finished soon, if I heard correctly, so 15 can start the sub process in the next little bit. I'll send 16.2 off for checking probably tomorrow, and 2/3 of Monochrome Factor will have been gone through. Hurray!

I would promise quick work on episode 17, but it's the time of year my Sonic the Hedgehog patriotism kicks in and how better to celebrate it than buying the (coughTwilightPrincessripoffcough) game that will be released next Tuesday? XD I think I'll find some time to translate 17 over the weekend, so perhaps the episode will be translated by the time I get my game, but I will again make no promises.

For those of you that are now angry at my bred fan-ism, I will promise something MF for you: my scanner is now working, so you can have box set 3 cover scans by Sunday. I've also just (literally) now received an e-mail saying that box set 4 has just been shipped, so that should be here around Thanksgiving time. I'll tell you now that 4's slipcover is delicious for those ShiroAki fans~.

Another fun little fact about me, since you all like me so much: study abroad Japan 2009 interviews, probably next week. I found out yesterday at a meeting there's only ten available slots for going (and thirty people including myself have expressed interest), so please cross your fingers for me. I'll know whether or not I'll be in Osaka for my birthday in a month.

And that is all. You may go.

Torrent News

I know a lot of you were so excited about having the torrents, but due to many issues of many sorts we're taking them down.

Hopefully this won't cause any anger or bitterness on our part, but one of the biggest reasons for this move (other than the fact that the torrents are just being retarded) is so that we can continue to slip under the radar of those that are on the prowl looking to shut subbers down. We're sure you'd rather have us continue to be able to sub and just direct download, rather than have torrents and run the risk of being found out easier.

Thanks for your understanding, and we apologize.

End of Mid-Terms = Good For You

So I finally had my last mid-term today: my Japanese oral. Here's how the evaluation afterward went...:

Sensei:
Well, Yusa-san, you did pretty well. You're between "excellent" and "superior" on this grading chart.

Me:
If that isn't a self-esteem boost, I don't know what is. ^^

Sensei:
Quite. ^^ You did very well with your grammar, pronunciation, creativity using the grammar, and stringing words together. However, your big weak spots are vocabulary and intonation.

Me:
What can I do to fix this for the final, sensei?

Sensei:
Well, there's one very good way to work on it.

Me:
And that is...?

Sensei:
Watch Japanese shows. Like, dramas. Or anime. That's it. Make sure you watch lots of anime and take notes. Make sure you listen very well. That's your homework. Can you do that?

.... 8DD Yes, sensei!

So, that's good news for all of you. I still have several large papers that I need to work on, but I'll be going "home" this weekend and be missing several days of school. This should give me more than enough time to finish my papers and really get down to some translating. I'm not promising quicker output of episodes (since subbing and checking go to Vinny and Wolfy, who will not have as much time as me) but it will make the waiting in between translating and actual production much shorter. Hopefully. That will give an overall shorter time.

Besides, if the sensei gives me permission to sit around and watch anime and dramas (alskdhgaef FUURIN KAZAN FTW), why shouldn't I do it? It's to everyone else's benefit too. Certainly the best bargain around.

Quick update 29.10.08

Wow, so midterms are almost over after a month of being stretched out. I have my Japanese oral on Friday, and that's it as far as testing goes until December. I do have several papers due, but they shouldn't get in the way as much as all these tests have.

It looks like Ainex is down, which has its ups and downs, I suppose. That means you don't get anything too high-quality, but since we've been getting such good response from you guys, maybe we don't even need to think about that.

I've still yet to translate 16.2, and I'm hoping to have time next weekend after I've finished a couple papers. 15.2 is still being checked, but that should soon be passed on to Wolfy so she can get 15 started. I'm excited to get started on 17, since it's one of my favourites, but I'll have to restrain myself to finishing 16 first.

I'd like to remind everyone to please, please not bother us about new episodes. Overall, you guys have been quite good. Please read the FAQ, because we will follow our own rules and we will delay release if we continue to be pestered. I am quite literally breaking my back even writing this blog to let you guys know the progress report. We are doing our best to get the episodes out as quickly as possible. Please respect that and wait quietly.

Downloads and Torrent Issues

Hey everyone!

We've been getting some e-mails saying that some of you have had problems downloading from Megaupload. We're working on hosting the files on other sites. If you check back later today, or in a few days, you should see at least one new link for each episode.

As far as torrents go, those just aren't working for us right now. You're welcome to keep trying, but just know that we know they aren't working. When we can get those up and running, we'll let you know.

Little progress report...: 15.1 is in Wolfy's control, 15.2 is in its final stages of being checked by Vinny, and 16.1 has been passed on as well. I would love to finish translating episode 16, but since midterms are tearing into my time I probably won't be able to for at least another week. But, at least I'm ahead a little bit. :)

That concludes that.

Poll #3

So Shirogane won poll #2 with a staggering 114 votes. Kou came in second with 81, and Akira landed third with 77. Not bad.

I think everyone should now vote in poll 3 so we can see which character is hated the most. XP

I've passed off the scripts for episode 15.1 to Wolfy, and 15.2 is now being checked by Vinny. I'll probably start working on 16 over the weekend. It looks like it'll be fairly easy to translate, but who knows. I might have some kind of shut down due to midterms being this upcoming week. However! I got wind that my third box set arrived at home, so we'll have to see what kind of goodies are in store on that when I go back tonight. >8D

Also I wish to make a public apology about the last line of 14. It is, in fact, supposed to read, "Don't trust Shirogane." For some reason, the "nai" on the end slipped past me (even though I was looking at the Chinese manhwa at the time and "bu" was very clearly printed). It might be the same possession that made me read "former" as "latter" and thus screwed up my philosophy paper big-time. Just maybe.

Anyway, please go vote! Who will win the distinction of "Most Hated Character"? 8D

Monochrome Factor Episode 14 [MonoRyuukou-Subs]

Hiya!! I know it's been awhile-but it's finally here!!

So anyways, I would normally give the 'not your best quality subs' speech, but I'm pretty sure you already know that...yea...so instead I'm going to give you the 'odd things about this episode' speech. Basically we had some confusion surrounding the naming in this episode. You will hear/read Numazu Mitsuhiro, Kumi Chou, and plain Numazu and Kumi. We think we got it down, but we thought it best to warn you. If you do need (for some odd reason) a better explanation, we will post one, you just have to let us know... If you've read this far you may be like 'just give us the [insert your choice curse word] episode-so here you go :P

Download Monochrome Factor Episode 14 English Subs [MonoRyuukou-Subs]

Watch It On MegaVideo

Once again, inform us of any errors (like the one where I spelled 'definitely'-'definitelly' (Sorry my bad), but I'm sure everyone will survive that) *Sweat*

By the way, 13 is up on MegaVideo too, it just isn't fixed yet...

Oh! I nearly forgot! Are there different versions of the file that you (as the fans) would like it in? We have only been posting the AVI versions but I (Wolfy) have versions converted for iPod, and PSP at hand, and am able to convert it to many more-you just have to tell me :)

Monochrome Factor Seiyuu

While looking at the MF official blog a few days before the series officially ended, I noticed they had this lovely little picture up. They must have finished the recording earlier and decided to get a group picture.

Now, I am unable to recognize all of these wonderful actors by sight, but with a little research I got most of them put together...:

Back row (left to right): ??, Tamura Yukari (Lulu), ??, Koshimizu Ami (Asamura Mayu), Hatano Wataru (Watagsuma Shuichi / Master), Yoshino Hiroyuki (Nanaya), ??

Front row: Asano Masumi (Suzuno Aya), Kamiya Hiroshi (Asamura Kengo), Suwabe Junichi (Shirogane), Saiga Mitsuki (Kujou Haruka), Konishi Katsuyuki (Kou)

On floor: Ono Daisuke (Nikaidou Akira)

I'm sure, for the most part, about Ono-sama, the front row, and Master's actor. Does anyone else know who the others are? (Don't suggest Homurabi's voice actor is in there; I am a huge fan of his and I know him on sight. He's not there.) I'm pretty convinced one of the older guys is Hikojuurou's VA but I'm not sure which one. If it were my guess, it would be the sir on the far left. But then... who would the other be...? O_o

Anyway, just a fun little tidbit for you all. :)

New Poll + AMV Event!

It is now October! 8D Hurray!

So, MR-S' first poll has concluded! It seems the vast majority of you would like to see subbed DVD extras from us. We're still discussing the possibility, so it may or may not happen, but it was certainly fun to see what everyone thought.

On that note, since the anime series has concluded, we have started another poll: favourite characters! Please go vote for your favourite and let's see who tops them all!

We are MonoRyuukou-Subs are also proud to announce a fun event - Monochrome AMV Festival! Share your AMV skillz with all other MF fans, and don't be afraid to show off no matter what skill level you're at! It can be serious, something you made quickly, or downright stupid. We don't care. ;P Show your fan-ness!

If you have an AMV you'd like featured, you can upload it somewhere (YouTube, Blogspot, etc.) and then e-mail us at monoryuukou@gmail.com to give us the link, or you can host it on a place like MediaFire or Megaupload and also e-mail that link to us. We'll then put the links with your names in this journal so everyone can have fun.

Please participate! It will be enjoyable. :D

DONN #1

I must say that I am quite disappointed...I found one of our videos on a site, that made it seem like the uploader Subbed it. He/She didn't. We did.

Here's a rule that will soon be added to our FAQ:

-If you MUST upload it (we prefer to do it), then CREDIT IT! We don't like people when they claim work for their own. We don't own Monochrome Factor, that is true, but you don't own our sub-work!

MR-S has talked, and unfortunately, we agreed that if this continues to happen-we will STOP SUBBING MONOCHROME FACTOR. And you can wait for other subbers.

And if you haven't noticed, this is Wolfy posting. I cannot be annoyed and I hardly ever get angry-but things like this truly make my muscles twitch and cause my eyes to glare...which really hurts because I get constant migraines...and I have one right now... So for the sake of my migraines-CREDIT!!!

BTW: DONN-Distribution Of Negative News (You don't want to see these on our blog-they're bad.)

BTW2: We got bored so that is why it is named DONN, we just made it up...

Separation Sky + Episode 14 Progress Report

So we have a piece of Monochrome Factor goodness for all of you, courtesy of the very lovely Chocolax: Sorano Kairi's artbook, Separation Sky. Go ahead and download it, and thank her for her generosity.

And as a side note - episode 14 is now translation-finished! So now it just has checking, timing, embedding, and exporting processes left. Though we're not sure exactly how long that should take, but you guys might have it as early as Monday. Just maybe. XP

Please enjoy!

Monochrome Factor, Vol. 2 [DVD Box Set]

Hello everyone!

My MF box set number 2 arrived just the other day! So, here I'll share the images with you. :)

The front slipcover. My favourite.

The box front cover.

I forgot to mention before that if you take the images here and use them elsewhere to please give credit to us, MR-S. I've spent a lot of money on these DVDs and I would greatly dislike it if someone took the pictures and started handing them out like they were free without crediting my hard-earned ($60 and up) money that went into these.

On another note, I've finished translating the first half of episode 14 and am working on the second half. It's my hope that I can have the script finished by this weekend, but we'll just have to see.

Please enjoy the pictures!

Group FAQ and Rules

Here are the rules and things of the MonoRyuukou-Subs group and site you should know, answered to questions that most of you are probably thinking. Please read these before you decide to haunt us.

1. When's the next episode going to be out?
Don't ask. This is really annoying and just plain rude. The episode will be out when it's ready, and definitely no sooner. If we are bothered about it, we will make a point of delaying the release. If you ask about the progess, the same thing will apply. We often update with progress reports, so if you want to know, read those. Do not e-mail us or comment asking.

2. What's the general timeline for getting an episode ready?
It takes about ten hours, give or take an hour or two, to get a script ready. These hours can take place over as little as two days or up to weeks, depending on how busy the translator is. Then the script is sent to the other two members of the Trinity, who check the script and do grammatical scrutiny. It then takes three to five days to do the timing and another day to embed. It takes a few hours to publish it.
We're aiming for at least one episode a month, but please understand that with our busy schedules, we can't always manage as soon as you might like.

3. Can I join the group?
If we do not say we are recruiting, please assume the answer to that question is no. We are a small group focused on one series, and we are not planning on branching out anytime soon. The Trinity can manage just fine on our own, so please do not ask. If we need help, we will make sure to ask for it.

4. Will you have events/extras/anything of that sort?
Every now and then we might have an event or something of the sort, but as of right now we are not planning one.

5. What am I allowed to talk about in the chatbox?
You can have a normal chat about life with whoever happens to be by. You may talk about things MF-related. However, no promotions, no linking, nothing unrelated may happen. If we catch you spamming, your comments will be deleted and you will receive warnings. Whether or not you get multiple warnings before expulsion, or if you will be blocked straight off will be up to the Trinity. We are a hard lot. Don't try getting on our bad side.

6. I have something to contribute that might be of help. Can I give it to you?
We, the Trinity, will refuse offers to help with translation, subbing, checking, etc. as stated in question one. However, if you have lyrics to a song, a song on its own, information, trailers, dramas, art or anything of the Monochrome Factor-related sort that we could do something to help broadcast, please send us an e-mail at monoryuukou@gmail.com stating what you have. The Trinity will discuss it and if it is something we're willing to translate/work/etc., we will get back to you. :)

7. I'm fluent in Japanese / I'm a veteran in speaking Japanese and I've noticed your subs have a lot of mistakes. How could you miss all this?
We're amateurs. We're constantly getting better, but please understand that our subs are not meant to be qualilty subs, they are meant to be out quickly. We do as best we can to get the translations as correct as possible, but if you're upset that they're not as good as they could be, please rest assured that our translator can't watch an entire episode after it's been published without headdesking in frustration.
When we're all caught up, we may decide to go back and re-translate in order to make quality subs, but this is something we're not thinking about at the moment.

8. How come this isn't up for download? / How come this isn't up to watch online?
First off, the watching online. Online video sites are removing Monochrome Factor fansubs almost as fast as they go up. We're attempting to host the videos up on this blog, but it's still something in progress, so until we get that figured out you'll have to download or find some site that so obscure the world's most evil organizations haven't found it yet.
Secondly, download. Normal episodes will be up for download, so if there's no link, please comment on the download post or send us an e-mail and we'll fix it. DVD extras (if we do them) and music will not, we repeat, will NOT be downloadable. If you have a problem with that, please feel free to support the series and creator and buy the DVDs and/or CDs yourself. We have a link on the sidebar.

9. I heard that your group is _____ and/or doing _____. Is this true?
If you hear a rumour (and if you do, we are far more popular/well-known than we really thought we were), please know that unless we state so ourselves, it's just a rumour. Please do not go about attacking us or others over it unless you know it's a fact, not fiction or TV reality.

10. Who is in charge of what? What are the members of the Trinity like? Who do I contact with questions?
WolfSinKyros is the calm, collected God of Subbing and Counsil. If you have something about the subs you'd like to help with, ask for her.
yusahana6323 is the adult, philosophical, somewhat sharp-witted God of Translator and Webmaster. If you have suggestions about the site or language stuffage, ask for her.
EvilValenStrife is the explosive, furious God of Checking and Everything Else. If you want to pick a fight, ask for her.
If you want to send something specific to any of us, in the subject line of your e-mail put who you want to be notified of your message. If you do not, it will go straight to yusahana6323, who is the main head of the mail.

11. What do I do if my question is still unanswered?
E-mail us at monoryuukou@gmail.com and we'll see if we can get to it. :)

~[Added 9-27-08]~
12. Are we allowed to upload your Subbed Episodes?
Well, if you MUST upload it (we prefer to do it), then please credit it. We don't like it when people claim our work for their own. We don't own original, that is true, but you don't own our sub-work. MR-S has talked, and unfortunately, we agreed that if this starts to happen frequently-we will stop subbing the series, and you can wait for other subbers.

The Trinity

Group e-mail: monoryuukou@gmail.com

yusahana6323 (遊佐花6323)
Trinity position: God of Translation and Technology
Blood type: B+
Dominant hand: Ambidexterous
Favourite food: Curry
Favourite colour: Purple
Favourite band/singers: U2, Gackt, Kimeru, alice nine.
Favourite MF character: Nikaidou Akira
Quote: "And I know it aches, and your heart - it breaks; you can only take so much... walk on." ~U2, Walk On

yusahana6323, a quarter-blood Finn, is currently a university student, aiming for a Japanese major and minoring in Asian Studies and Philosophy. With a broad background in art, literature, interpersonal business communications, and language, and raised by one of the world's top philosophers, she has a quick wit and a cunning mind, and sometimes appears two-faced.

She has lived in England (Kensington area of London) and has visited countries such as Italy, France, Taiwan, and Japan. She applied for a five-year exchange program to Japan, but was turned down at the last stage. She is currently applying to go to Japan during spring of 2009 for study abroad and is planning on going to Wales in 2010, and applying for a year exchange to Japan in 2011.

Her jobs are to translate episodes and music, gather information from non-American sources, and manage the website. She also spends a decent amount of her paycheck each month in order to buy first-press Monochrome Factor DVD box sets in order to expand MonoRyuukou-Subs' pool of MF resources.

WolfSinKyros (フオルフ・シン・カイロス)

Trinity Position: God of Subbing and Council
Blood type: Unknown
Dominant hand: Right
Favorite food: Tuna
Favorite color: Black
Favorite band/singers: Avenged Sevenfold, The Dreaming, Disturbed, [] Broken Iris
Favorite MF character: Wagatsuma Shuichi (Master)
Quote: "You can just call me Master." ~Master, MF Vol. 1

WolfSinKyros is a Junior in High School, with an undecided future. She has a love for languages and is currently taking Spanish 4 AP, and Japanese 1, and she plans to learn Italian and French. She also hates her parents for calling Japanese a 'dead language', (which is why she couldn't take it Freshmen year), and the only influence they ever had on her, was her habit of collecting. She lived in the South, the REAL South, until the age of six, when she was forced to move. She now lives unhappily on the West Coast.

She's no 'girly-girl', she hates dresses and skirts, and all of her clothes are black, except for a stranded, grey, Three Days Grace shirt at the back of her closet. Tight pants, black jackets, fedoras, chains, belts, and spikes are her favorites. She's never seen without her studded belts side-hanged, or without her iPod. She hates people who are full of themselves and people who put her in the 'emo-cutting' category, she considers her style more 'scene-goth'. Despite the stereotypes, she always has a hand extended to those who need/want her help, and she hates it when people around her are sad.

Her jobs are to time the subs for the episodes and embed them as well. She also uploads them for downloading and online-streaming. In her other free time she SubTimes the Romaji and the English for the full-length MF OP/ED/CS Still-Pic Videos.

An odd thing about her is that her friends like to duct-tape her and claim parts of her body.

And she has an extreme obsession with Master.

EvilValenStrife (イーブイル・バレン・ストライフ)

No info about her currently at this time. She proves rather difficult to get ahold of.

Progress report-ish, 17-9-08

So yeah. XP Sorry about the "FAQ", we've got a "real" one that we'll be putting up soon, and the other we'll take down. You can't be diplomatic about everything, and obviously we had stuff to get out of our systems and some people need to see our irritation for reasons we won't state here. You can say whatever you want about it, we will obviously just bite back if you get too much on our cases for it.

It's true that people here, for the most part, have been really good, but there have been a few cases that are just not acceptable in the least. Please, please remember that you are not in charge of what we do, that you only receive subbed episodes so long as we're in good humour, and that the more we're bothered, the less we want to do subbing.

So, that set aside, I have the script for 14 about a quarter of the way done. It's a really lame thing to be saying but these first few weeks back to school have been crap, and I have a lot of essays and projects due in this next week so I'll be pretty much unable to work on the script until I have all that done, or relatively close to done. Sigh. Such is life, I suppose.

My second box set should be arriving in the next couple of days, so I can scan in the art and such by next week to help keep things going until I'm able to really devote some time to the script.

I kind of feel like everything is going in really, really slow motion. 'Tis not fun.

One last thing: the poll. The results are looking interesting. If you still haven't voted, please do so we can see what's going on. We'll remind you (nicely now) again that we may or may not post those, depending on the opinion of the Trinity.

And with that, I'll go eat breakfast and head to class.

Monochrome Factor, Vol. 1 [DVD Box Set]

Hello everyone! yusahana6323 speaking!

As many of you (probably don't) know, I've committed a good chunk of my paycheck to buying the first-press release of the Japanese Monochrome Factor DVDs, which come with all sorts of goodies. My first set just came the other day, so I thought I would share the scans of the covers with you all:

The front special slip cover. Me likes, very much.

The actual DVD cover.

The DVD back cover.

Sorry the colouring is off - I'm having issues with both my scanner and Photoshop at the moment, so you'll have to make do with these (plus, the texturing on the slipcover and the plastic overlay on the DVD box affect the way the colours look). As soon as I can get better quality scans, I'll be sure to upload them.

The bonus DVD has two features - one with Suwabe Junichi (Shirogane) and Ono Daisuke (Akira) in a radio booth, accompanied by Saiga Mitsuki (Haruka), where they chat about the episodes, talk about the extras on the DVDs, and do other fun things (like humourous re-dubs). The other feature is Suwabe-sama and Ono-sama again, but with Kamiya Hiroshi (Kengo), where they just have a little chat. The actual DVD itself has remastered episodes with some little goodies that they didn't put on TV.

So, the question here is... do you want us to post the extras? If so, do you want subtitles? I've put up a poll on the sidebar just out of interest. Feel free to vote, because the Trinity does have your interests in mind, but please remember that ultimately it is our decision, and we are not bound to do it if we don't feel it's something we want.

Go vote! Maybe you'll convince us. ;P

Working on translating episode 14, but the script probably won't be finished for a couple weeks. I need to take a little bit of time to get ahead on schoolwork and remaster things I've forgotten so I can afford to do translating and other such fun things in my spare time (I refuse to sacrifice my grades for this. Apologies). I'm also discussing going abroad with my family (either to Japan or London), so that's another thing I need to focus on. I hope you guys understand and will be patient.

Please also understand that the more you heckle us, the less we want to do subbing. Subbing is a privilege, not a right. Ymmarratteko?

Thank you, and have a nice day!

P.S. We at MR-S are proud to be US citizens. Please spare a moment, if you can, to think of 9/11/01 and those that gave their time and energy, and even their lives, to aid those in need, and to think of the families of those that lost their lives in these attacks. Thank you.

Monochrome Factor Episode 13 [For Now]

*Sigh*
So I'm really sorry. This is the rough product of 13, because I discovered that some of the subtitles, uh...move...You'll see... Other than that it is perfectly fine, all the subs SHOULD appear right, but it's just that they seem to shift (Only like 4 or 5, but still)... Anyways I figured that I'll fix it soon, but upload the first version anyways considering most people are and should be mad at me 'cause I promised the episode yesterday...
So here for 'Rough' 13.
And I will soon get you a better version, soon.
Many apologizies,
Wolfy

MegaVideo and 13 Info

Hiya,
We've moved to MegaVideo, I'll do more later...
So here for that.
I'm working on 13 but I'm redoing the songs and editing some lines so unfortunately it won't be today...Try entertaining yourselves with Ainex's Episode 11...
13 will be definitely before them, though.

Ainex Monochrome Factor 11 UP

Yeah, so for those of you who want actual decent subs by someone that probably knows what they're doing, Ainex finally has their episode 11 up, and you can head here to nab it. I for one shall not be bitter and download it just to see how horribly I did. XP

Episode 13 has Wolfy working on it. I think she wanted it up by tonight, but we'll have to see how that goes.

Now, off to arrange everything for when school starts tomorrow. ~<3

Crystallize Translation

To help you guys stave off your MF hunger until we can get the next episode released, I have completed this: a translation of Shirogane's character song! Whee! My CD finally got here... after much confusion and such. -_- I hate to admit I got a little more distracted by my Koutetsu Sangokushi CDVD, but...

Anyway, I really love this song - a soft, gentle, touching ballad by Shirogane was hardly what I had expected. The gentle effects help give off that 'crystal' feeling. His wording was really difficult to get around, since almost every word had many meanings, but I think I've managed to get his message across. :)

The philosopher in me adores this song, though I promise I won't analyze it for you. XP

Please enjoy. Imeem player at the bottom. :D

Episode 13 Info And Veoh Mishaps

Hiya,
I apologize, but between cruel teachers and everything else that bites in my life, I haven't had much time to start the subs. (Not to mention we are having some difficulties with some lines that are hard to understand...) I'm trying to get some in today, but the only definite day that I know that I will be able to work on is Friday (and, well, Saturday morning...). I'm trying, though, I promise. But I'm damn sure that it will be out before that other-certain-group :P
Veoh Stuff:
So unfortunately our videos have been removed from Veoh, I don't know why they took them off-they didn't tell me...
Until I find a better site and have time to upload the videos, everyone is going to have to download, I'm really sorry :(
But I might be able to get them on this site, eventually...I'll just need some time...
Things are making it very difficult for us...

Episode 13 - Translated

That's where the progress stands on the next episode, at least. After watching episode 12 when we released it, I suddenly got very paranoid about my translations, so I took extra-special care, as much as I could, with episode 13.

Though, it might we a week or so before it actually comes out due to Wolfy and Vinny being stuck back in school. I still have a week to go, so I'm going to try and translate as much as I can.

The moving went great, though there's still some settling-in to do (things to buy, things to put up, schedules to figure out, etc.) but it's gone rather well so far. Hurray for my random MF stuff posted on the walls!

My Shirogane CD should be here by tomorrow, so I'll be able to have his character song translated as well. Maybe I'll start translating the dramas...

Anyway, so expect episode 13 soon. Byes!

The direct link to the Episode is here.

Thank You,

Destiny Translation

A little something I did quickly before I move.

Akira's character song, called "Destiny". My first thought was that it would be like one of the other many songs that have the word 'destiny' in my arsenal of music - slow, quiet, somewhat sad and maybe a bit emo. However, I like it quite a lot, actually, and it was against expectation. It's a nice light rock song with just enough effect on the end of the chorus to make one feel pulled in. I adore Ono Daisuke's voice, and hearing it sing for a character strong and confident like Akira is pure joy. The slight twang he puts on his voice fits the music and Akira's character excellently.

So, I hope you enjoy this quick translation. It should prove to be a nice look a little deeper into Akira's character. :)

I've embedded an imeem player at the bottom, so if you want to listen and follow along, be my guest.

Genjitsu ni kakureta jijitsu wo shiru darou
Ashimoto terashidasu michi no nai mishi no naka
Tesaguri tsumetai KNIFE sae hane ni suru
You will discover it someday, won't you?
Confining yourself in reality, you know the truth, right?
Your footsteps being to shine, in the middle of a road that you don't know -
Even if you fumble with a cold knife, it will act as wings

さあ真の存在を君に見せよう
まだ知らない真の言葉
感じないならこの腕をあげよう
魂のまま行き来するのさ
二つの世界。。。
Saa shin no sonzai wo kimi ni miseyou
Mada shiranai shin no kotoba
Kanjinai nara kono ude wo ageyou
Tamashii no mama ikiki suru no sa
Futatsu no sekai...
Yes, I'll show you the existence of a Shin,
Though I don't yet know it. The words of a Shin -
If you can't feel them, I'll raise these arms
And come and go with the way of my soul
Two worlds...

まだ届かぬ孤独の声
この鎖を引きちぎって
Mada todorakanu kodoku no koe
Kono kusari wo hikichigitte
The voice of loneliness has yet to reach me.
I'll tear away these chains.

さあ真の夜も君に見せよう
闇を越えた真の闇を
もう戻れない俺の定めなら
ただ受け止めて歩き出すのさ
二つの影。。。
Saa shin no yoru mo kimi ni miseyou
Yami wo koeta shin no yami wo
Mou moderenai ore no sadame nara
Tada uketomete arukidasu no sa
Futatsu no kage...
Yes, I'll show you the Night of a Shin
I passed through the darkness. The Darkness of Shin
Won't return anymore. If it's my fate,
I'll take it, and begin walking.
Two shadows...

It's my destiny きっと。。。
It's my destiny kitto...
It's my destiny, surely...

* "Shin" also translates to "Truth".

Our Chat Box

Hiya it's Wolfy,
Just incase you guys want to leave a quick message or whatever.
Edit: Yo it's Wolfy, I moved it to the side! -->>
I'll be on sometimes.
~Wolfy

Progress report18-8-08

Wow, so many eights. -shot-

Anyway, God of Translation yusahana6323 here. Episode 12 has been translated and I believe Wolfy is working on timing and embedding right now. You can probably expect episode 12 to be out in the next few days. Now that we all know exactly what we're doing, there should be less error and confusion with this episode than there was with the last one.

Episode 13 might be a little bit longer in the making, since I'm moving in the next couple days and I haven't had much time to sit down and translate. I'll also want to go through 13 several times just because it is so important to the storyline, and the wording can be kind of tricky. (That, and Ko's dramatics will probably take me forever to get down right.) I'll ask your understanding if 13 doesn't come out for a week or so due to those things. :)

Now, off I go to pack some more. Thanks for your support!

Metamorphose Translation

Wow, I managed something. -_-

Anyway, we all love this song right? It gave me shivers the first time I saw it. But the second half didn't make much sense... I had to go through several times in order to get it all straightened out.

Please enjoy this translation of Asriel's "Metamorphose", Monochrome Factor's OP song.

.oOOo.

Metamorphose
Metamorphose

灰色染まっていく 空色仰いで
此処は何処かと
闇色広がってく 空色塞いで
途を尋ねよう
haiiro somatteiku sorairo aoi de koko wa izuko kato
yamiiro hirogatteku sorairo fusaide michi o tazune you
In this place, where I watched the blue sky dyed the colour of ash,
I wanted to find the path that the spreading darkness blocked.

鏡の中映し出された 自分に怯えて
見ぬ振りしてた日々に
サヨナラした あの日の君を信じているから
言葉に出来ないけど――
kagami no naka utsushidasareta jibun ni obiete
minufurishiteta hibi ni
SAYONARA shita ano hi no kimi o shinjiteiru kara
kotoba ni dekinai kedo
Frightened by the 'you' that's reflected in the mirror,
You pretended not to see it as the days went by.

You believe you said 'goodbye' that day,

Though you didn't put it into words, so...

どうか叶いますように
二つの魂を 呼ぶ声が聞こえてる胸の奥底で
差し出した手を掴んで行こう 今は
立ち止まる暇は無い
モノクロな世界の中
douka kanaimasu youni
futatsu no tamashii o yobu koe ga kikoeteru mune no okusoko de
sashi dashita te wo tsukande ikou ima wa
tachidomaru hima wa nai
MONOKURO na sekai no naka
Please, let this wish come true,
For both of our souls; I can hear your voice crying it out from the depths of my heart.

Taking hold of the hand I held out to you,

Now is no time to stop

In this monochrome world...

夜色月が堕ちて 空色小さな光輝けば
闇色変わっていく 空色見つけて途は続いてく
yoruiro tsuki ga ochite sorairo chiisana hikari kagayakeba
yamiiro kawatteiku sora iro mitsukete michi wa tsuzuiteku
A night-coloured moon is falling as a small light shines in the sky
As I see the sky change to the colour of darkness, I continue searching for the path.

百の夜を乗り越えてきた 自分を誇ろう
動き始めた日々に
サヨナラした あの日の背中震える手の平
静かな微笑みを――
hyaku no yoru wo norikoete kita jibun wo hokorou
ugoki hajimeta hibi ni
SAYONARA shita ano hi no senaka furueru te no hira
shizukana hohoemi to
We crossed a hundred nights, and you came to be proud of yourself
And started to move as the days went by

You said goodbye at the end of that that day, and with the palm of your trembling hand

And your quiet smile,

どうか迷わないように
二つの魂を 操りし歯車がどこかにあるなら
刻む流れが止まらぬよう 今は
見つめ続けていよう
モノクロな時間の中
douka mayowanai youni
futatsu no tamashii wo ayatsurishi haguruma ga dokoka ni aru nara
kizamu nagare ga tomaranu you ima wa
mitsume tsuzukete iyou
MONOKURO na jikan no naka
Please, don't go astray anymore,
For both of our souls: if somewhere, there is someone pulling the strings
,
Stop their engraving flow.

Continue to watch intently

The monochrome time you're in.

鏡の中映し出された 本当の自分に
見ぬ振りしてた日々に
サヨナラした 走り出した 誰かを守りたい
言葉に出来ないけど――
kagami no naka utsushi dasareta honto no jibun ni
minufurishiteta hibi ni
SAYONARA shita hashiri dashita dareka wo mamoritai
kotoba ni dekinai kedo
The real you was reflected in the mirror -
You pretended not to see it as the days went by.

You said goodbye and ran, because you want to protect someone,

Though you can't put it into words, so...

どうか叶いますように
二つの魂を 呼ぶ声が聞こえてる胸の奥底で
差し出した手を掴んで行こう 今は
立ち止まる暇は無い
モノクロな世界の中
douka kanaimasu youni
futatsu no tamashii wo yobu koe ga kikoeteru mune no okusoko de
sashidashita te wo tsukande ikou ima wa
tachidomaru hima wa nai
MONOKURO na sekai no naka
Please, let this wish come true,
For both of our souls; I can hear your voice crying it out from the depths of my heart.

Taking hold of the hand I held out to you,

Now is no time to stop

In this monochrome world...
